3 Great St. Patrick’s Day Social Media Campaigns

Love it or hate it, St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, and with it will come a slew of themed social media campaigns.

Many companies in the entertainment, food, and drink industries, in particular, have embraced St. Patrick’s Day as an opportunity to grow their audiences and push products. In this post, we’ll look at three brands who have put together interesting, impressive St. Patrick’s Day tie-ins, including insights into why each works and how you can use them as inspiration for your brand’s next holiday campaign (or even for whipping up a quick campaign for St. Patrick’s Day 2018).

Here we go.

1. Guinness

Guinness is an iconic Irish beer brand, so naturally, it embraces St. Patrick’s to the fullest.

Every year the company chooses a St. Patrick’s hashtag and uses it to raise awareness and money for a cause. #StacheForCharity is this year’s hashtag, and Guinness is donating $1 for every mustache photo posted to social media with the accompanying hashtag. Money raised goes to the Guinness Gives Back Fund.

We like Guinness’ campaign because it gives back, while also embracing the company’s Irish heritage during the St. Patrick’s day holiday.

Next holiday, consider using a hashtag to raise awareness for a cause close to your company’s heart. This breeds good publicity, gets people posting about your brand, and also helps make a difference.

2. Jameson

Whiskey brand Jameson is promoting local bars this St. Patrick’s Day – the brand’s been posting short videos on its Instagram page which local bartenders making drinks and discussing how his or her city celebrates the event.

These collaborations give both Jameson and the featured bar attention, while also providing the company’s followers with interesting themed content.

We like how Jameson is embracing video for its 2018 St. Patrick’s day campaign. Video is a rapidly growing social media trend, and one that’s showing no signs of stopping, so take a note from Jameson and start posting videos on your brand’s social media. Research shows that doing so can grow your social shares by 12x

3. Krispy Kreme

Stepping away from alcohol brands, Krispy Kreme is also embracing the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. The donut maker’s pushing its limited edition green donuts through photos and videos posted to social, making for a mouthwatering campaign that’s generating a heap of engagement.

The campaign thus far appears to be a winner – Krispy Kreme’s announcement Tweet alone garnered over 2,000 likes.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day
