3 big time new blogger mistakes cripple even the most ambitious individuals.
I often see aspiring newbies make these huge blogging boo boos that guarantee their failure, no matter how hard they work or for how long they work, or no matter what tools, hacks or techniques they use. They will fall flat on their faces if they fall prey to these faux paus.

1: Trusting Advice from Family, Friends and Everybody but Skilled, Professional Bloggers with Years of Experience
This one drives me mad sometimes.
I offer advice as a professional blogger with 10 years of experience to a new blogger.
The blogger turns around and decides to trust advice from their wife or friend or parent.
Unless the wife or friend or parent has 10 years of professional blogging experience you are making a dumb mistake.
Go with the pro advice. Leave your comfort zone. Let your wife or dad know that blogging pros know better than them.
Would you trust a short order cook for advice on how to invest your nest egg? Listen to the financial advisor with 10 years of experience, not the guy who flips eggs for a living.

It’s flooring how people trust online business advice from everybody save the gal or guy with a decade of experience in building an online business!
2: Allowing Fear to Call the Shots Aka No Mental Homework
This is a rough one.
For years online I allowed fear to call the shots.
I did not meditate, do yoga, engage in prayer or dive into any daily rituals that would have helped me face, embrace and release my blogging and life fears. Said fears ate me alive from the inside-out, leading to year’s worth of struggling, killing my chances of succeeding online.
I eventually decided to dive into my fears. I felt these unpleasant energies, cleared the terrors and began blogging from an intelligent, loving, generous, more detached space which accelerated my success.
Do your mental homework, guys. Don’t allow fear to call the shots with your blogging campaign because if you blog from an energy of fear predominantly you will struggle like hell to succeed.
3: Not Spending Money on Your Blog
As New Year’s settles in many bloggers think about diving into blogging full-bore. But at the last minute the masses cling to their free hosting account, wanting to give blogging a shot with a free platform before committing money to buying their domain and hosting.
Trying to see if blogging works with a free platform is like trying to see if you can build a successful bagel shop from your bedroom in your parent’s home, using bagels from their refrigerator in a rent free setting. Sounds stupid, right? Of course it is a bone-headed move.
My friend Donna Merrill regularly says it takes some money to make money. She is dead on. Any entrepreneur who runs a successful venture needs to spend some money at least to get the business off of the ground.
For aspiring bloggers this means buying your domain, hosting and a premium theme at a minimum.
