A Vacationing Family Was Going Through Airport Security. What Happened Next Was Outrageous

Absurdly Driven looks at the world of business with a skeptical eye and a firmly rooted tongue in cheek.

Sometimes, they look bored.

Sometimes, they look as if they want to be anywhere but there.

Working in airport security rarely seems like, well, fun.

On occasion, however, it requires a considerable amount of forbearance.

Take these airport security officers, for example.

They were likely having just another day at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires.

Just another day when they had to look out for possibly nefarious characters.

This day, however, they also had to look out for a right cross, followed by a left uppercut.

And quite a bit more.

Local newspaper Clarín reported that the family was upset that it couldn’t go back airside to retrieve its luggage.

The family had learned, you see, that the baggage handlers had gone on strike.

A man identified by local media as Ricardo Vidal and his two sons appear to have completely lost their temper.

Which would soon lead to them losing their liberty.

Local news media suggested that the elder Vidal claimed he had a heart condition and that his medication was in his checked luggage.

This, to some, might seem odd. If it was that important, wouldn’t you keep it with you?

However, once the battle escalated, it took quite some stopping.

It all ended with one security officer unconscious and two more injured.

The three Vidals were placed in a jail cell.

Airport security is one of those jobs in which the vital part might only occasionally be needed.

It’s a little like being a soccer goalkeeper.

Sometimes, you won’t have much to do, other than the normal processing of catching the ball, passing it out and keeping warm.

Suddenly, you have to make a save and you’re the most important person on the pitch.

Such jobs require a peculiar type of concentration.

Though some airport security personnel might not have the friendliest of faces at first glance, theirs is a job that still requires judgment.

I wonder what sort of judgment may or may not befall the Vidal family.
