On September 28, actress Choi Hee Seo tied the knot in a private ceremony with only friends and family in attendance.
Choi Hee Seo announced that she was getting married earlier this month. In an interview with Xportsnews, she shared her dislike of the titles “new bride” and “pumjeolnyeo,” a Korean term that refers to married women but carries the literal meaning of “sold out/no longer available.”
“It’s not like I’m no longer going to work because I’m getting married,” she said. “But those titles come to define your image and it doesn’t always have a positive effect. I realized that that is why actresses are careful about getting married. But I didn’t want to be cautious like that [so I confidently revealed my marriage news].”
On the day of her wedding, Choi Hee Seo shared photos from her wedding photo shoot in Jeju Island and revealed that she and her husband-to-be had taken the photos themselves. She wrote in a blog post, “They say that planning your wedding yourself is hard, but S [her boyfriend] is really having a hard time. It also wasn’t easy for me to wake up early and do my makeup and put on a tight dress and wear heels. But whenever S gets absorbed in the work he likes, he doesn’t think anything of carrying heavy equipment around in the hot weather he normally dislikes.”
Choi Hee Seo is known for her roles in the film “Anarchist from Colony,” the drama “Mistress,” and most recently the film “Our Body.” Choi Hee Seo’s new husband is a non-celebrity. They are the same age and went to the same university together.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
