AFC U23 Championship 2020 Qualifiers: Team still missing something – Vietnam coach Park Hang-seo after 6-0 win

Vietnam defeated Brunei 6-0 in their opener in the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi on Friday, but the goals galore has not made their head coach Park Hang-seo a particularly happy man.

Speaking at the news conference after their opener in Group K of the qualifiers, the South Korean tactician was of the opinion that his team will still have to improve in order to tackle the upcoming challenges.

“I am satisfied with this victory although the team is still missing something. The best thing was six goals scored by six different players,” said Park as goals from Ha Duch Chinh, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Dinh Thanh Binh, Trieu Viet Hung, Hyunh Tan Sinh and Nguyen Quang Hai sealed the 6-0 victory.

Vietnam now face their toughest opponents in the Group as they face Indonesia on Sunday and Thailand on March 26. But the coach from Korea Republic is taking one game at a time.

“I am not thinking about Thailand at the moment. Right now, all I want is to be well-prepared and try the best to beat Indonesia in the next game,” Park said.

The Vietnam head coach also passed his verdict on the two sides having watched Thailand defeat Indonesia 4-0 from the stands.

“Thailand and Indonesia have had so many changes since the 2019 AFF U-22 Championship. There were four changes in Indonesia squad, while Thailand had 15. Indonesian players have good skill and great passing ability. But Thailand showed how well prepared they were. They have great individuals, great team work as well as tactics,” he said.
