Agile Medical taps broader respiratory market

WEST BERLIN, N.J. – With its new online store, The Oxygen Concentrator Supplies Shop, Agile Medical aims to repeat the success of The CPAP Shop for oxygen and asthma treatment, says CEO and Founder Tony Zadnik.

“We’ve grown consistently each year (with The CPAP Shop), and even more in the past three to five years,” said Zadnik. “We want provide a convenient, accessible way for customers to get the products they want. We really see oxygen and asthma as an untapped market.”

The oxygen shop offers a range of home and portable oxygen concentrators, standard and pocket nebulizers, pulse oximeters and more, all chosen by its on-staff respiratory therapist. Agile Medical also has two retail locations in West Berlin, N.J., and Mentor, Ohio.

While people are increasingly turning to the Internet to research and buy new products, Agile Medical expects its customer service to set it apart from its competitors, says Zadnik.

“We are hyper-focused on customer service and having the customer engaged,” he said. “We have a significant number of customer service staff in-house and every single one is trained on every single product we sell.”

While the company does not do patient set-ups, it tests and analyzes concentrators to ensure proper flow and oxygen purity, and makes sure that all settings match prescriptions, says Pooja Shah, senior marketing director.

“We are, of course, available to troubleshoot or assist if a customer calls us with questions,” he said.

Agile Medical is leveraging the advertising, search engine optimization and social media strategies more typical of online businesses, but it’s also setting up booths at trade shows and home health fairs, and is partnering with local physicians.

“We just did one fair where we had people at the booth four-deep, wondering, “What is it? How does it work?” he said. “It’s amazing how little knowledge people have about CPAP and oxygen and asthma equipment.”
