Are You Walled in by Terrifying Blogging Fears?

“Of course you write so many eBooks Ryan. Writing eBooks is easy for you. But writing eBooks is not easy for most people.”

10 years ago I sometimes teared up in frustration after writing 300 words. Writer’s block. Terribly depressing feeling.

All was OK. Words flowed. But the spigot went dry after 300 freaking words.

Fast forward to 4 years ago. I went on an eBook writing blitz.

I wrote upwards of 10,000 to 20,000 words daily.

How?

Imagine going from 300 words to 20,000 words writing-wise in a single day.

Did a blogging fairy sprinkle pixy dust on me, making blogging and writing easy for me?

Nope.

I dove into my fears again and again, practicing my writing skills daily for years.

You better do the same. Or else you will be walled in by your fears and will assume that certain skills came easy to certain bloggers.

Fear Wall

Most bloggers struggle to build successful blogs because fear walls them in. They want to succeed but don’t:

  • have the time (fear of time loss)
  • have the energy (fear of loss of energy, fear of being not enough, fear of not having enough)
  • have the connections (fear of networking)
  • have the writing skills (fear of practicing writing)

to succeed.

Fear and love exist in the world. Only 2 emotions.

Everything else feeling-wise is an offshoot or form of fear and love.

If you are not having fun blogging, and if you are not blogging from an energy of love predominantly, fear dominates your blogging campaign.

If fear dominates you and your blogging campaign you will either fail or see some worldly success with tons of headaches, resistance, and nightmarish 18 hour days, because you fear losing the success you achieved, and stress will eat you alive in the end.

The Solution

Own your fears.

Own your jealousy at things being easy for successful bloggers who practiced working on skills for years that you refused to practice, because you allowed fear to dominate your mind.

Feel these feels, however unpleasant. After a few rough moments you see a little more clearly.

If you struggle with writing and the skill plum doesn’t come easy for you, write 500 words daily in a Word document. Clearing the fear allows the solution to reveal itself and you will heed your intuition, writing daily in a Word document, even if you feel like you’re wasting your time.

Nobody enters the blogging game a skilled dynamo, brimming with ideas, overnight success all but a formality.

We all need to practice, create, connect and learn blogging daily for many years before skills come easily to us.

Guest Posting

I may write 3-5 guest posts daily now but only after I wrote millions of words both through practice and through eBooks, guest posts and blog posts on my blogs.

Diving into fears day after day preceded the prolific writing practice campaign.

The only way out through a wall of blogging fears is through because you need to feel the fear, to be rid of it.

You cannot get over something that’s still inside of you.

Do you want to see something neat?

Plus do you want to see how diving into a highly uncomfortable fear helped me enjoy my travels more?

My wife and I eat lunch at a Buddhist vegetarian restaurant daily here in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Delightful fare for only $1.28 USD a dish, or 40 Baht.

I deeply feared speaking even one word of Thai many years ago because I felt I’d look and sound like an idiot.

But learning a few basic phrases for ordering food and connecting with Thai people has made my time spent here so much more enjoyable.
