David Hogg being under a police investigation for the distribution of pornography to minors is fake news. There is no truth to at report that the survivor of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting was now being investigated by Parkland, Fla., police into a crime involving the distribution of pornography to minors. Hogg is currently a gun control advocate and activist against gun violence in the United States.

Where did this fake news originate? Daily World Update published the fake news article on April 28, 2018, falsely reporting that Hogg was being looked into for a crime involving pornography distribution to minors. The story tried to tie him to disgraced politician, Anthony Weiner. You can read the fake news below.

Remember Anthony Weiner? Well, apparently all leftists have a bit of him inside them — metaphorically, of course. Gun-hating nutjob and Parkland teen David Hogg just turned 18, and now he’s learning quite a bit about adulthood much in the same manner Hillary Clinton’s ally did.

According to police reports in Parkland, Florida, Hogg was busted sending pictures of his…hog…to a 17-year-old girl. We contacted the Parkland Police Department, who told us they could not comment because they do not “comment on the details on ongoing criminal investigations,” but Police Captain Arnold Spooner confirms that Hogg is indeed being investigated for “multiple instances of distributing pornography to minors.”

However, there is no truth to the above story. What is the problem with the story to make it false? For one thing, there is no legitimate news coverage of this story. Additionally, The Sun-Sentinel, which is the main daily newspaper of Broward County, Fla., has no coverage of any such story. There is also no “Police Captain Arnold Spooner.” Rather, Capt. Jan Jordan commands the Parkland district.

Finally, and most importantly, Daily World Update carries the following disclaimer on its website:

America’s Last Line of Defense is a whimsical playland of conservative satire.

Before you complain and decide satire is synonymous with “comedy”:

sat·ire
ˈsaˌtī(ə)r
noun
The use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

While the site clearly labels itself as satire, you can judge whether this story is funny.

Most recently, Hogg was calling for the boycott of Vanguard and BlackRock, which are giant managers of exchange traded funds and other passive-style investments, are the biggest owners of publicly traded firearms makers. In a post on Twitter, Hogg spoke on the firms’ ownership of gun maker stocks, adding “if you use them, feel free to let them know.” Then he added two tags: BoycottVanguard BoycottBlackrock.

What did you think of the fake news that Hogg was being under a police investigation for the distribution of pornography to minors? Did you believe that the fake news or see people sharing the story falsely on social media? Let us know in the comments section.
