Bastyr University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Digital Marketing Manager/Jr. Web Developer position. This person will collaborate with a team of marketing and recruitment specialists to support marketing strategy and execution across the institution’s network of four public websites, intranet, and social media platforms. This role is responsible for providing the University’s Marketing and Admissions teams with data-driven insights that guide messaging, execution, optimization, and media investment decisions. This position reports to the Assoc. Vice President, Marketing & External Communications.

Their core functions are as follows:

  1. Serve as the primary point person to sync and monitor Bastyr’s web strategy across all digital channels – Search (paid and organic), Social, Web Content, Email Marketing and Advertising. Track channel performance for ROI, and follow best practices for web analytics implementation and conversion tracking.
  2. Make and apply data-informed UI and site navigation recommendations; customize web page and email templates in Drupal and HubSpot.
  3. Translate recruitment initiatives from the University’s Admissions team into modeling a customer journey map to design and structure audience-targeted sequenced e-mail campaigns using HubSpot marketing automation platform.
  4. Assist the Senior Web Developer with growing and maintaining the University’s network of websites and related web properties; guide and monitor search engine optimization efforts; play an integral role in maintaining front-end web applications (both third-party and in-house), developing and executing new web projects, fielding and fixing website bugs, building and updating web forms and related report queries.
  5. Build and maintain dashboards to measure key performance indicators of the University’s digital media and marketing programs across all channels, and integrating diverse systems such as Google Analytics, HubSpot, Unit4 CAMS ERP system, and Social Media platforms. Proactively identify new data sets to incorporate into media and web analytics platforms for deeper optimization opportunities.

Requirements

Desired experience and education level:

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing and marketing analytics.
  • 1-2 years of experience with front-end web development.
  • Experience at a college or university a plus.
  • BS/BA degree or certification in related field, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge requirements:

  • Experience coding 3-tier online applications involving both client and server.
  • Proficient in front-end web development; able to write standards-compliant HTML, CSS and JavaScript for desktop and mobile compatibility. One or more server-side scripting languages (preferably PHP.)
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining database-driven Web pages using Drupal CMS on Linux server with Apache and MySQL.
  • Prior experience designing and executing audience-targeted sequenced e-mail campaigns using HubSpot or other marketing automation platform.
  • Solid understanding of Google Webmaster Tools, i.e. Analytics, Search Console, Tag Manager; and how to interpret and present metrics.
  • Knowledgeable of, digital media platform reporting (AdWords, Facebook, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of UX visual design concepts and principles, working knowledge of graphic file formats, and ability to manipulate and optimize graphics for web use.
  • Familiarity with working in a networked Windows environment, LAMP Stack environment, and with content management systems.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles and web marketing trends.
  • Also a plus to have working knowledge or familiarity of: Power BI or Tableau; Unit4 CAMS or other Enterprise Resource Planning software; small-scale e-commerce and CRM platforms (such as CiviCRM, nopCommerce and VirtualMerchant); and Office 365 or other project management tools.
  • Working knowledge of AP Style and an understanding of writing principles for the web also a plus.
  • Helpful to have understanding of a centralized marketing function within a university or a large multi-department business.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Salary is DOE + comprehensive benefits package; including Health, Dental & Vision, 403b plans, Section 125 plans and generous paid time-off.
