How to Think Like a Pro Blogger: Time Frames

Do you want to get inside the brain-box of a professional blogger?

Today I’ll discuss time frames.

Or, how long it takes you to succeed.

Different frame, for different bloggers. A billion sizes fit a billion people, differently. I have seen bloggers go full time in a few years. I have seen bloggers go full time in 5 years. I have seen bloggers do pretty much jack over 10 years.

What gives?

Nothing.

Pro bloggers know; all happens in its own time.

My Journey

Imagine a roller coaster ride snaking around the Matterhorn. Plus, demonic clowns popped out at all corners, screaming at you. Plus, the highs and lows both beat the shit out of you. Wild excitement. Deflating disappointment.

For roughly 5 years, this was my blogging journey. I saw worldly success. But I panicked, too, because I lacked patience. I worked from Survival Mode, blogging to put food on the table, and to pay bills. Naturally, I became attached to a shorter and shorter time frame, narrowing my window daily. Bad idea. Even though I blogged full time and saw some worldly success, I expected to become wildly successful in months, versus that critical, years-long-time-frame, of generous service, that eventually launches bloggers into the stratosphere.

I eventually leveled off a few years ago, being at peace with ANY time frame, and energetically, I REALLY came into my own over the past 2 years. I literally have no time frame for success now. No expectations. I just help people and blog for the fun of blogging.

This is how a pro blogger thinks in terms of time frames; the top pros may start off thinking in terms of years, but eventually, the time frame completely vanishes. Expectations dissolve. You blog because blogging feels fun, not because you need to get something with a specific time frame.

This is where blogging genius begins; detachment. No time frame. Because pros – top level pros – focus almost exclusively on the joy of the blogging process, concentrating on giving, and never giving much thought to getting, to time frames or to specific goals. No panic, no impatience, no lack of persistence, no bailing on a proven system. Just generous, patient, persistent service.

Pros Think Years Until the Time Element Vanishes

If you want to think like a pro blogger, think 3-5 years of generous,  patient, persistent service. Right to the point when you stop even setting time frames for becoming a pro. Who cares? Nobody ever followed me because I became a pro within a set time. Who cares about my time frames? People love how I have fun helping them become successful bloggers. This attitude, this energy, this generous service, this commitment to practicing, to developing my skills, create a level of detachment that helped me become a pro.

Outcomes take care of themselves. Time moves as it should. Focus on helping. Allow patience, persistence and generosity to flow through your being. Be in the blogging game for the long haul….right to the point where you care less about time frames, and care mostly about having fun helping people.

Blogging is a fabulous, fun, freeing journey. I write these words from a cave house in Turkey; pictures coming soon. But you need to be patient, persistent and willing to be with your fears, without panicking. If you slow down, calm down, relax and blog the right way, you will be amazed at where this journey takes you.
