Natalya Conquers Smackdown Women At WWE Battleground To Face Naomi At SummerSlam

Natalya defeated four of SmackDown’s most talented females to earn a shot at SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi at SummerSlam. The Irish Lass Kicker singlehandedly took care of that fearsome duo, however, submitting Tamina with the Dis-arm-her and then doing the same to The Ravishing Russian in short order.

Maiden Ireland’s night ended just seconds later when Natalya rolled Lynch up with a handful of tights and dispatched her from the contest, bringing the bout down to the heiresses of the Hart and Flair dynasties. Natalya focused on submissions, locking Flair in a mangling armbar, while Charlotte Flair opted for finesse, hoisting her into the air and powerbombing her way out of the hold.

In the end, Natalya raised her knees to block a move and roll Charlotte headfirst into the turnbuckle.

As the Women’s Evolution carries on, history is seemingly made on a weekly basis. At WWE Battleground, yet another bit of history will be etched. Five of the top Superstars in the SmackDown LIVE Women’s division will square off in a Five-Way Elimination Match, with the winner going on to SummerSlam to challenge Naomi in the first-ever SmackDown Women’s Title Match in SummerSlam history.

Following the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match(es) and Naomi overcoming Lana in a series of title contests, matters in the division needed to be reset. With so much talent surging and SummerSlam on the horizon, SmackDown LIVE management decided that the fairest way to determine Naomi’s opponent at SummerSlam would be to put five of the roster’s best on the Battleground and see who prevailed.
