Nokia hasn’t exactly been making any bold or inspiring smartphones since its comeback. The new HMD Global owned company likes to play safe, even as other OEMs like OnePlus or even budget players like Redmi are going for bezel-less, notch-less designs. Nokia announced the Nokia 6.2 at IFA 2019 in Berlin. While it doesn’t bring any features we haven’t seen before, it does bring some new wallpapers. You can find the link to download Nokia 6.2 stock wallpapers below.

Nokia 6.2 details

The Nokia 6.2 is another budget device from the company and features specs to match. While the notch design on the front is definitely dated, it is still a big evolution over the Nokia 6.1 and a slight improvement over the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

The last Nokia device from the 6 series was the Nokia 6.1 Plus. Only the Pixel 3 XL could claim to have a worse notch and chin combination on the front than the Nokia 6.1 Plus. Fortunately, Nokia 6.2 has a much sweeter water-drop notch, although there is still a sizeable chin at the bottom. Not to mention, the bezel-less parts of the front are also not quite as bezel-less as you’d get on a OnePlus 6T, for example. It is better than its predecessor but it is still a look only a sub-$150 device should have.

On the back, things get a bit more hopeful with a design that’s not quite as used, surprisingly. The triple camera setup is neatly paired up in a large disc-shaped camera hump which actually looks far better than the rumored camera boxes on the back of upcoming iPhones and Pixels. Some may even prefer the circular module over a horizontal or vertical one. Right below it is the rear-mounted fingerprint reader, the vertically placed Nokia logo and then the Android One branding at the bottom.

The power button and the volume rockers are along the right side of the device. There’s a headphone jack as well on the top and a USB Type C charging port on the bottom.

Nokia 6.2 Specifications

As I said before, this is a budget device with specs to match that description. It features a 6.3-inch IPS LCS capacitive touchscreen with a Full HD+ resolution (1080 pixels x 2280 pixels). The Nokia 6.2 stock wallpapers provided below correspond to the same resolution. Other features of the display include a pixel density of about 400 pixels per inch and an aspect ratio of 19:9, and a screen-to-body ratio of ~82.5%. The display also has support for HDR10 which is not something you see in devices at this range.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor powers the device. The CPU on the chipset is paired with an Adreno 509 GPU. Nokia plans to offer the device in three RAM and storage variants: 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM with either 64GB or 128GB of storage. There’s a dedicated microSD slot capable of expanding the storage up to 512GB.

A non-removable 3500mAh Li-Po battery is included to keep things going.

Nokia 6.2 Camera

The camera module is perhaps the most impressive thing about the smartphone, at least on paper. The Zeiss branded module contains a primary 16MP, 27mm wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/1.8. The secondary camera is an 8MP 13mm ultra-wide sensor. There’s also a 5MP depth sensor.

The cameras support panorama, HDR, and PDAF with a video recording capability of up to [email protected], [email protected] The front camera is an 8MP sensor capable of HDR shots and 1080p video at 30fps.

Despite all of its devices running Android One, Nokia hasn’t had the best reputation in the department. While the company does provide Android version upgrades rather consistently, they’ve also been including some stuff that shouldn’t be there according to some. It is an Android One device after all. So from now on the company is dropping the Evenwell apps it used for “optimization”.

The Nokia 6.2 will ship with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box but we can expect it to get updated to Android 10. When that will be is up for debate.
