OnePlus 7 may get the Android update its rivals can only dream of

OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro are the two newest smartphones from the spirited Shenzhen-based company – the latter is by far its most premium device yet.

OnePlus 7 Pro is most notable for its display – the flagship boasts a huge 6.67-inch screen that has a high resolution of 1440×3120, meaning all content displayed looks incredibly sharp.

However, it’s the 7 Pro’s 90Hz refresh rate that really puts it in a league above its closest rivals.

The phone’s high refresh rate allows it to deliver a smoother user experience than more expensive handsets such as the Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and iPhone Xs.

Additionally, the OnePlus 7 Pro also totes a sizeable 4,000mAh battery, a capable rear triple camera system and rapid internals.

One of the best features of any OnePlus phone is the software it runs – the firm places its OxygenOS skin over Google’s Android.

OxygenOS is very similar to Google’s stock version of Android but adds in additional functionality to help improve the user experience further.

One of the best features of OxygenOS is the fact it receives consistent updates – OnePlus devices are always some of the first to be granted the latest monthly Android security patches for instance.

And it seems OnePlus could similarly be swift with its delivery of Android 10 with new reports suggesting the firm will start rolling out the upgrade tomorrow.

An Android user recently posted a screenshot of a chat they had with OnePlus’ customer service team – when asked, it was iterated the Chinese tech firm is planning to start delivering Android 10 to its devices “simultaneously with the Android 10 launch”.

This suggests some OnePlus mobiles could receive Android 10 on the same day as Google’s Pixel smartphones.

It was not mentioned which handsets would be granted Google’s latest and greatest software – however it is assumed the tech giant’s newest OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones would be first on the agenda for the upgrade.

If OnePlus is able to deliver the latest version of Android to some of its products on the same day as Google does for its Pixel phones, it would mark a huge success for the Chinese tech firm.

Moreover, it is also likely OnePlus would beat a number of its rivals such as Samsung, Huawei and LG to delivering Android 10 to some of its handsets.

Android 10 has been tipped for a release tomorrow by multiple sources.

Last week Phone Arena said it had spoken with “two independent Google Support agents” that each confirmed Android 10 would start rolling out on September 3.

Moreover, 9to5Google recently noticed Canadian mobile network Rogers similarly claimed Android 10 would debut on the same date.

In a forum post that has since been altered, the carrier declared “Q OS” would be made available for all Google Pixel devices on September 3.

It is assumed “Q OS” is referring to Android Q, the codename for Android 10.
