SEO Foodbank receives 30,000 pounds of pet food | News Briefs

LOGAN — The Southeast Ohio Foodbank, which services Athens County and nine other counties in the region, has recently received 30,000 pounds of pet food to be distributed to low-income pet owners.

The Foodbank is organized by the Hocking-Athens-Perry Community Action Program (HAPCAP). Organizers have begun reaching out to veterinary offices, humane societies and animal shelters to help publicize the opportunity and organize distribution sites.

HAPCAP recently implemented a program to provide pet food and supplies to seniors who receive Meals on Wheels. This effort is in response to growing concerns that seniors were feeding their companion animals their own meals, as they were unable to purchase pet food.

For more information on the pet food program, or to become a sponsor, contact Asti Payne, HAPCAP Development Coordinator, by emailing asti.payne@hapcap.org or calling 740-385-6813.
