Mist and rain could not deter 40 pupils and ten teachers of Buttershaw Middle School, from taking part in a Shrove Tuesday pancake race as part of the school’s campaign to raise money for a swimming pool.
The 50 competitors, cheered on by several hundred pupils, hoped to add a possible £25 – £30 to the £5,000 already raised in a year by the pupils and Buttershaw’s Parent-Teacher Association.
Other fund-raising efforts had included a sponsored silence which had brought in £450.
