Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to read more in 2018? You might want to invest in a good e-reader. Not only is it majorly easier to toss a slim device in your bag, but you can buy books instantly and start reading wherever you are. Physical books are fantastic, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes convenience can be exactly what you need to kickstart your new reading habit.
Right now, you can get Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite for $80. This is a certified refurbished version of the best e-reader we’ve ever tested, but it’s $40 cheaper than buying one new and it comes with a one-year limited warranty to ease any worries you might have.
The Paperwhite bested all the other e-readers in Amazon’s Kindle lineup when we tested them because it offers a perfect blends of bells and whistles for the right price. Sure, the lightweight, waterproof Oasis is a marvel of modern technology, but for $250 it’s not worth it for the average user. And the original Kindle costs as much as this refurb, but it doesn’t offer the same paper-white display that makes the Paperwhite so enjoyable. It’s also got adjustable lighting for reading anywhere and its size fits perfectly in one hand so you can sip a warm drink with the other and early cozy up this January.
If you want to take the e-reader plunge, you’ll need books to read too. Today also happens to be Amazon’s Digital Day, so they’ve got loads of popular e-books for as low as $1.99. And even if you don’t have your Kindle yet, you can download the app to take advantage of these sales. With books like George R.R. Martin’s “Game of Thrones” series and “Hidden Figures” by Margot Lee Shetterly, you’re sure to find something you’ve been dying to read. I’ve personally had Amy Poehler’s “Yes Please” on my reading list for years and am finally buying it today for $4. I am PUMPED. Browse the Kindle Deals store and I’m confident you’ll find a title to get excited about no matter which genre you gravitate toward.
