There are many politicians across the world on social media. As with all social users, some are more active than others, some are just well-liked, and some have brilliant strategies in place to reach their audience.
In a recent study, SEMrush identified politicians with the largest amount of followers on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. We put together a list of the 10 most popular politicians on social media across each of these platforms.

Key findings from the study:
Former American President, Barack Obama, is the front runner being the first politician to be close to reaching 200 million social media followers.
Twitter brings the largest amount of followers to almost all of the politicians, while in comparison, YouTube generates the least amount of followers.
American politics have the most representation on social platforms — three out of the top 10 politicians are American.
Despite being second in terms of the total amount of followers, Narendra Modi has the biggest amount of Instagram followers amongst the top 10 politicians.
The combined amount of followers for the first two politicians, Barack Obama and Narendra Modi, is bigger than the population of the USA.
The сombined amount of all followers for the top 10 politicians is only 85 million people less than that of the total population of all European countries combined.
