D.R.’s dad was his first musical influence, providing memories of singing together in church. However, when D.R.’s parents separated, he lost contact with his dad but continued to pursue music. Initially he took some jobs teaching in elementary schools, but in 2012, D.R. took the opportunity of a six-month residency at a Motown bar in Nagoya, Japan. Upon his return, D.R. booked a gig in an off-Broadway production of “Dreamgirls.” Now in Harlem, D.R. works on his own music and has a singing residency at the popular Red Rooster.
Tish often sang in church, where her father was a preacher. At just 14, Tish found out she was pregnant and gave birth to a premature daughter, Ashlynn. Tish’s parents were key in helping her raise her daughter while she went to college. Twelve years later, Tish gave birth to her son and faced the tragedy of losing both her parents within 18 months of each other. She found support in her husband, Tobias, and his four children. A night of karaoke led to a regular gig at a local bar, then Tish quickly established herself as a soul singer in St. Louis. Tish now has her own soul band, but “The Voice” is her chance to see if she has what it takes to make it outside of St. Louis.

The four-time Emmy Award-winning “The Voice” returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the blockbuster vocal competition show’s new season. Superstar singer-songwriter Clarkson makes her debut as a coach this season, with Season 12-winning coach and musical icon Keys taking a red chair alongside the show’s returning coaches, Levine and Shelton, and host Carson Daly.
If a coach is impressed by the artist’s voice, he or she pushes a button to select the artist for his or her team. At this point, the coach’s chair will swivel so that he or she can face the artist he or she has selected. If more than one coach pushes his or her button, the power then shifts to the artists to choose which coach they want to work with. If no coach pushes a button, the artist is eliminated from the competition.
