After several months without one, the town of Glenrock has a food bank again, thanks to a group of volunteers. The Glenrock Area Food Pantry, 506 W. Birch, Ste. 15, is open the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month (October 9 and 23), 1 to 3 p.m. ages 60 and over and disabled; 4 to 7 p.m. general public. Items include shelf-stable groceries, grocery-rescued fresh produce, meat and eggs.

The Central Wyoming Chapter of the Quilts of Valor, “Crossroads Quilters,” meets at the Central Wyoming Senior Services Center, 1831 E. 4th Street, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays. This is a nonprofit organization that awards “Quilts of Valor” to local military service members and veterans who have served the country and have been touched by war regardless of the conflict, declared war or otherwise in which they served. QOV’s are lifetime awards, stitched with love, prayers and healing thoughts. The Natrona County Library is hosting a fun tissue paper painting program for students in grades K–6 at 4 p.m. Using a fun and unique painting technique, students will make their creations by bleeding colors from tissue paper. All supplies and snacks will be provided at no cost. Call 577-7323 for more information.

Have you, a loved one, a friend, co-worker or neighbor ever been diagnosed with cancer? Have you ever wondered what the American Cancer Society does for people here in Wyoming? Have you ever thought about checking to see what Relay for Life is about or perhaps attended one and have some ideas to share? Everyone is welcome to join us at 7 p.m., at the IBEW Building, 691 English Dr. to learn more about the ACS and Relay for Life and the volunteer opportunities to help cancer patients, caregivers and survivors. The Casper Humane Society will hold its Fall Super Garage Sale October 11 to 13 at 1743 E. Yellowstone Highway.

Donated items will be accepted from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at 1743 E. Yellowstone Highway (across the street from the Alibi Bar). For more information, or to arrange a drop off outside of these hours, please call the Shelter at 265-5439.

No computers and/or monitors, keyboards, televisions, house paint, desks, video tapes or adult clothes, please. All other items will be gratefully accepted.

Sale hours are Friday, Oct. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m., ($5/person admission); Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (free admission); and Sunday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (free admission), with the final box sale (everything you can fit in one box for $5/box) from 2 to 4 p.m.

The building will be loaded with treasures and special finds. You won’t want to miss it.

All proceeds will benefit the Casper Humane Society, a no-kill shelter supported entirely by local contributions and charitable donations.

Presented by Jessi Sawdon & Kerstin Ellis of Hinge Studio Marketing & Communications, and in conjunction with the Natrona County Public Library.

The monthly meeting of the Casper Chapter of the Wyoming Archaeological Society is at 7 p.m.  at the Agricultural Resource and Learning Center at 2011 Fairgrounds Road. The Agricultural building is on the south side of the Fairgrounds and north of Guadalajara’s Restaurant.

Following a brief business meeting, Alexander Craib, Ph.D. student at the University of Wyoming, will speak on Dalton Mobility in the Tennessee River Valley: An Assessment of Raw Material Use and Tool Curation.  He received a B.A. in Archaeology from the University of Oregon and an M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. He has worked on numerous academic and CRM projects in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Oregon, Wyoming, Easter Island (Rapa Nui), and Pohnpei (Federated States of Micronesia).

Line Dance Class every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the Casper Elks Lodge. $2 donation, money earned is donated to a different charity and chosen by the class every month. A great way to exercise while having fun. Please bring clean/dry non-marking shoes. This is open to the public.

The Casper College Department of Theatre and Dance will look at “Mystery, Mayhem, and Madness,” during the 2019-2020 season.

The season will kick off with “Children of Eden.” Under the direction of Richard Burk, choreography by Jodi Youmans-Jones and musical direction by Johanna Swisher, the musical will run October 9-11 and 16-20 on the McMurry Mainstage.
