MOBILE, Ala (WKRG)
One of the helicopters that transports critically-ill patients to USA Medical Center has a brand new look, but it’s one that many of you who have lived here a while may recognize.
USA partners with a company called Air Methods, for emergency helicopter service. Today, USA flew in a helicopter that is branded with the words, “USA SouthFlight.” The chopper also has the red color scheme that was on one of the original SouthFlight helicopters back in the 1980s and 90s.
At the ceremony today, the helicopter flew in with a simulated stroke patient on board, demonstrating how quickly the helicopters can transport patients in a dire medical situation to the hospital.
According to a press release from USA Medical Center, “USA SouthFlight will offer high-quality care for the region’s most critically ill and injured patients, with state-of-the-art medical technology and advanced communication equipment. Based locally in Mobile, Air Methods operates 24 hours a day.”
