What Is Your Blog USP?

USP.

Unique Selling Proposition.

This 3 word phrase makes many bloggers shake in their boots.

I was intimidated by identifying my blog USP too, for a while. How? Where? Questions popped up in my mind, backed with strong doubts.

Eventually, I figured out that stressing 1 chief benefit of following your blog is the ultimate blog USP. This is the proposition, and unique one at that, which draws readers to your cyber real estate.

Add your authentic, genuine personality by writing in your voice – through persistent writing practice – and inject that personality into your blog and brand and you will have uncovered your blog USP.

Watch as I discuss via this YouTube broadcast:

Single Chief Benefit

Dwell on the single, chief benefit your blog offers your readers.

For me, the benefit is offering my readers smart blogging tips to help them retire to a life of island hopping.

I teach you how to blog. Especially if you want to become a full time, pro, globe-trotting blogger, as I am.

This is my unique selling proposition. I cover this topic with every post and allow the USP to work its way through my blog posts, pages, ads, sidebar widgets….everything.

But finding your practical, beneficial, USP is only one part of the blogging equation.

You need to be you to stand out from the blogging crowd in your niche.

Being You Helps

As I will share below, you likely cannot choose a practical USP which has never been offered before, which is OK.

Your personality is the lynch pin in making your blog USP pop.

Maybe your blogging tips USP is common among 10,000 other bloggers. No worries. You stand out by writing in your voice, being your authentic self and more than anything, allowing your personality to bleed through your blog and brand.

This is how you really make your blog USP pop because nobody can mimic you, when you are just being you.

A few tips:

  • write 1000 words daily in a Word document for practice; trash the document to detach from your writing and to find your writing voice
  • work yourself and your stories into your blog and brand
  • be you in all you do; snap selfies, smile, add infectious, genuine, real energy to your blog

By being you, your USP stands out like a sore thumb.

Nobody can come close to following or copying your blogging brand and USP if you make yourself an integral part of your blog and brand.

It Will Not Be Unique in Your Niche

Be at peace with this; although your USP will be unique, making you stand out, if you add your personality into your blog and brand, you will not choose a groundbreaking niche that nobody ever covered, in most cases.

Even though nobody in history specialized in becoming an island hopping, pro blogger, focused on offering blogging tips, before I helped create this niche at Blogging From Paradise, I know folks who teach you how to become a full time blogger and travel the world.

This is OK. I am at peace with the idea because being me and allowing my personality to bleed through my blog and brand makes me stand out.

The practical USP may not be unique, but the personal USP is always unique if you are being your authentic self and allow your writing voice to mark your blog as, your blog, a one of a kind offering.
