Why Travel Bloggers Usually Struggle to Earn Affiliate Commissions

Reading some travel blogger affiliate disclosures makes me feel like they’re taking a walk of shame.

Colorful western references aside, I can literally sense the shame, embarrassment, awkwardness and discomfort said travel bloggers experience in trying to convey that they make money if readers click on links to buy stuff. Or at least, the bloggers make a tiny commission. But don’t worry; not a lot of money. Goodness gracious; making a lot of money for selling something would be despicable, right? Embarrassing. Nobody likes bloggers who make big money.

Nope. Your readers feel good, knowing you earn teeny weeny commissions and maybe you can buy a cup of coffee after 40 such sales. Or perhaps you can buy a gum wrapper or piece of lint after 5 sales.

Can you see how incredibly insane this shameful, fearful, low energy, lack and limitation strategy is?

Especially if you want to make money through your blog?

How Making Money Works

Money is an energy. A simple means of exchange.

Almost every human being grows up with wacky, totally untrue, fear-based beliefs concerning the money energy.

Big problem here; if you fear making money, or fear folks spending money through your blog, you will make little or no money because you cannot be in harmony with money and resonant with money if you have screwy, limiting beliefs concerning money.

Some travel bloggers complain about making little money.

I observe their “walk of shame” affiliate disclosures.

How can you allow in money energy if you feel terrible about making money? Money feels terrible around folks who feel terrible about allowing in money, and naturally, money energy stays away, perpetuating your money struggles.

The Solution

The direct, clear, simple way to make more money through your affiliate opportunities is to face, embrace and to genuinely feel your money fears.

Guys, this experience feels unpleasant at first. Nobody likes feeling emotions of loss, shame, anger, embarrassment or any fear-based stuff arising when exploring limiting beliefs related to money. But being gentle with yourself and exploring these energies is the only genuine way to clear the fears, to monetize your travel blog effectively.

My Disclosure

After doing some money fear clearing I took a page from Blogging Tips.

My blanket affiliate – and heck, for any income stream – disclosure explains how I literally make money through all links and images you click on my blog, or perhaps I am benefited otherwise. I explain how I share value to help my readers but freely disclose how I may make money through every link or image you click on my blog.

Imagine the horror some ashamed travel bloggers with heavy money limiting beliefs would feel sharing boldly and clearly that they may make money through everything you’d click on their blogs?

Posting such a disclosure on your blog would force you to face your fears around making money, receiving money and likely, spending money too.

The way to make more money through your travel blog is to become comfortable receiving a means of exchange called money. Get comfortable and money starts to flow in more freely. But getting comfortable forces you to face and feel fears around receiving money for service rendered or goods sold.

Don’t fear that your readers have little money to spend; clinging to this fear ensures that your readership is dominated by cheap tire kickers with money fears aka money problems.

It’s just money guys.

It’s only money.

Feel and release money fears to accept this simple, neutrally-charged means of exchange that tends to benefit travel bloggers living a worldly life.
