5 Lessons Learned from Publishing 700 Posts on Blogging Tips

6 figures a year? Wow, awesome. I will follow that blogging strategy.

Wait a second…this guy nabs 3,000 visitors daily following a different approach.

Hold on! This Ryan Biddulph guy never talks outcomes, never checks stats, and circles the globe through blogging? Plus, he landed features on world famous sites? Maybe HE has the secret. Lemme try his approach.

Wrong. On all 3 levels. I hold no secrets. I love my blogging gig and live a cool life and inspire folks to globe trot through blogging, but much of my blogging life ain’t sexy.

The blogger hellbent on following 3 strategies above, jumping from one to the next like a dancing monkey, falls prey to Blogging Bright Shiny Object Syndrome.

Fear, masked as greed and/or desperation, dials bloggers in to big number outcomes. 6 figure profits during 1 year. 10,000 visitors daily. But fear calls crappy shots because fear goads you to chase one big number today, and another, tomorrow. So and so made 6 figures podcasting. Today, you try podcasting. Tomorrow, you begin writing 100 eBooks like me, because you hate your job and wish to circle the globe through blogging. Foolishly focusing on bright, shiny objects forces you to abandon strategies like I change time zones; A LOT! Each technique you drop, your blog drops deeper into the cyber sewer.

I spoke to a gung ho new blogger who quit blogging 5 months in because blogging did not work. But podcasting seemed the way to go. Like a podcast succeeds. Skilled, dedicated, podcasters succeed. Podcasting is worthless sans podcaster who spends months practicing podcasting.

How to Avoid Blogging Bright Shiny Object Syndrome

Fear influences you to crave big numbers, clouding your vision, sapping patience and persistence, leading to BBSOS. Feel fear and release it. Blog mainly to have fun, not to make money or drive huge traffic. This is step 1.

By the way; here I am taking steps up a cobble-tone road in the charming town of Ortahisar, Turkey, today.

Step 2 is focusing on the basics. Create helpful content and build bonds by helping fellow bloggers. I never used or followed a bright, shiny object because I do SIMPLE, every day, for years. I create content. I help bloggers without expecting anything in return. Simple. Powerful. Simple recruits success. Simple moves you away from shiny and sexy.

Step 3; be genuine. Tell the truth. Align with honest, genuine people. Release dishonest people who desire something for nothing.

Step 4; be careful about making income claims. Even if you tell the truth, most bloggers who flock to income claims are desperate and greedy, looking for a BBSO. Do you believe attracting greedy people is intelligent, if you want to avoid falling prey to this sinister tendency? Nope; tis not too intelligent. If clear on making income claims, take the route. You are good to go. But if you make claims from an unclear energy, tire kicker, cheapies and the disgustingly greedy create energetic cross currents around your blogging campaign, magnetizing you to impatient, desperate folks who program hop, change strategies with the wind and blame you and your BBSO for their failure.
