Apple Testing iPhone 12 Prototype With 6.7-Inch Notch-Less Display With Face ID Sensors In Top Frame

Ben Geskin is a name that has been attached to tons of leaks over the years and today he’s saying that at least one new iPhone with a 6.7-inch display has been prototyped, and it doesn’t have a notch, either.

With the removal of the notch, Apple would need to find somewhere else for its Face ID sensors to live. Geskin believes that they’d move to the top edge of the phone, hidden inside a thin bezel frame. They also believe that Apple intends to release this new iPhone as soon as next year, which sounds very soon given the miniaturization needed to make that happen.

In order to show just what this would look like, Geskin has mocked up a concept image. There’s no denying that it looks impressive, but none of that matters if it can’t be produced. However, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a phone that large. The normally reliable Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned the same display size earlier this year. And again, 2020 was mentioned.

We’ve also been hearing noises that the 2020 iPhones will feature a redesigned chassis. That again came from Kuo, so it’s possible there is a link there.

The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro are only a week old so it’s still early days for any real concrete leaks on what the 2020 iPhones will look like. Still, we’d expect more information to start to leak out in the coming months.
