The Greater Roxbury Business Association has announced that the first of a series of monthly business workshops “Run Your Business Smarter Not Harder” will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the MTC building at 61 Academy St. in Margaretville.
Sponsored by the Margaretville Telephone Company, presenter Mercedes Gonzalez, owner of Just Shop Boutique, a designer discount store in Arkville,will demonstrate how to put a plan of action together that allows for scale, growth and balance between life and work. According to a media release, Gonzalez has been considered a retail industry leader for more than 20 years. She founded her own strategy and brand developing agency, Global Purchasing companies in New York City in 1998. Since then she has participated at more than 50 trade shows in eight countries, establishing plans and strategies for retailers and emerging designers. She is also the published author of the reportedly successfully selling book “Chronicles of a Fashion Buyer.”
Future workshops will be address Effective Website and Search Engine Optimization with Susan Aleksejczyk on Feb. 26; How to Leverage Content Marketing to Boost Reputation and Sales with Simona David on March 26; Grant Writing with Peg Ellsworth on April 30; and Social Media for Small Business with Becky Tyre on May 28. All will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

FARM & FOOD BUSINESS INCUBATOR WORKSHOP SERIES
DOWNTOWN — The Center for Agricultural Development and Entrepreneurship and SUNY Cobleskill will kick off their third annual Farm and Food Business Incubator winter workshop series on Saturday, Feb. 2, at CADE’s Oneonta office location on the fifth floor of 189 Main St. in Oneonta.
Participants who complete the core curriculum will be eligible for an agribusiness certificate.
The Farm and Food Business Incubator is a partnership between CADE and SUNY Cobleskill launched in 2016 and is a New York State certified business incubator designated by NYSTAR.
The workshop series will offer step-by-step support in the development of a business plan and prepare participants to approach lending institutions and other potential funding sources. According to a media release, the series is part of the business development services offered by FFBI to agribusinesses, farm and food business entrepreneurs and beginning farmers seeking to develop or expand their operations.
The series will continue on Feb. 9 and 16, with supplemental shorter offerings on Wednesday evenings. Pitching practice sessions will be held on March 14 and 26, when participants will present business plans they have developed during the program.
Sessions will be facilitated by members of CADE’s staff and feature special presenters according to topic. All sessions will be interactive, hands-on, built around real-world examples and case studies. Participants will be encouraged to bring and share examples and questions from their experiences and plans.

KIDS CLAY CLASSES
COOPERSTOWN — The Smithy Clay Studio at 1 Otsego Court in Cooperstown will offer weekly Kids Clay Classes for those 7 to 14 from 3:15 to 5 p.m. Thursdays from Feb. 7 to March 7, with the exception of Feb. 21. Class will not meet that Thursday.
Wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques will be used to make pots, sculptures, masks and more.
The cost will be $85 per student per session.
