Creating Your Map

Instructor: Kim Nicoll

Thursday, June 6, 6 to 8 p.m.

Drop-in: Free to members, $20 for non-members

In this class, we will take you on a personal journey by creating your very own map. It could be a map of your local town, favorite vacation spot, or a journey you desire take – your dream journey!  You are welcome to bring reference photos for your map, or we can make some suggestions.  Then we will create together.  To make this map we will be honing our drawing skills and learning to use Gouache!

 

Art Walk Gallery Show – Eclectic Journey

Co-resident artists Kimberly Nicoll and Hilary Mank, creators of many things, will host a show of their work at the Art Loft on Friday June 7th.  Both artists use a variety of mediums to create two dimensional, 3 dimensional, functional, and wearable art. Wood, acrylics, watercolor, and gouache are just some of the mediums represented in the show. Nicoll is currently working on a ‘We Are All Connected’ series. It is her wish to create awareness concerning the health of our planet and oceans.  Mank has been breathing life into local driftwood in the form of chandeliers, jewelry, air plant hangers, assemblage, and sculpture.  Her watercolor botanicals and wood burning kitchenware will also be on display.

 

Chinese Painting-Wisteria

Instructor: Nanfei Wang

Saturday, June 8, 9:30 a.m. to noon, $35

In this Traditional Chinese Painting class, we will learn how to paint crows and wisteria, using ink and brush on rice paper. We will also continue to explore how to use water and ink on paper in the traditional Chinese way. No prior attendance or experience is necessary. All materials provided. All are welcome to join in the fun.

Have you ever wanted to start a blog but didn’t know where to start? Join Hilary Mank, artist, writer, and creator of Everlongardener.com, for this informative writing workshop.  We will discuss the process of blog writing, how to create engaging content, and how to get ranked on Google with Search Engine Optimization. Hilary will take you through the steps from rough draft to finished product. Whether you are writing memoirs, a journal of your artistic process, or want to promote your book or your products, Hilary will get you started in the world of blogging!

 

Social Media Workshop

Monday, June 10, 2 to 3:30 p.m., $25

The Art Loft is pleased to offer Facebook and Instagram practice for artists with this class from Lena Faber.  DIY is the best way to practice.  During class, learn how to promote the works and community of each other.  We will check analytics at the end of this class, and see how your Facebook page gets immediate organic results. Please bring your laptops.  Class is limited to 8, so please register in advance.  Your registration will also help us know who to ‘like’ and ‘tag’ during the workshop, as it will be part of the practice.

 

Watercolor Notecards

Learn the skill of all occasion card making! We will be painting simple cards in watercolor with botanical themes and your choice of greetings. If you have ever wanted to get started with color, this is the class for you! All materials included.
