I went mad.
I worked way too hard to see minimum results with my blogging business many years ago. Even when I had success it was a strained, unpleasant experience.
Turns out, I got my blog kinda noticed but worked way too hard to make it happen.
Why?
I focused only on myself, publishing tons of posts, promoting only me, slaving and striving for long, hard days just to get by.

I finally woke up when I observed pro’s pros in action.
Folks like Sue Dunlevie taught me how promoting other bloggers and commenting genuinely on people’s blogs reveals this powerful secret for getting your blog noticed; help other bloggers get their blog noticed.
1,000 beats 1.
Making 1,000 or more friends over 5 years or a decade beats your singular efforts.
During my hard working days I tried to get everybody to come to my blog. But when I woke up and saw the power in building a network of friends, I promoted my blogging buddies all day long, holding the intent to get other blogger’s blogs noticed.
Ditto for any blogger; good friend or seeming stranger, I helped people get their blog noticed throughout the entire day:
- retweeting their posts
- Facebook Sharing their posts
- mentioning them on my blog
- mentioning them on my guest posts
Magic happened.
I made 1 friend. Then 10. Then 30.
Instead of me trying to promote my content all day to my small audience, 30 blogging buddies who I’d helped without conditions (serving without looking for anything in return) promoted me.
Imagine 30 bloggers retweeting your latest blog post to their followings. Some of my blogging buddies had 50 followers, some 10,000 and some 100,000.
That’s a lotta traffic folks.
Over time, I made blogging buddies with well over 1,000 different retweeters.
1,000 is better than 1.
Always has been, always will be.
The best way to get your blog noticed is to help other bloggers get their blog noticed. Befriend them.
Then your friends promote you to their readerships by interviewing you, mentioning you on their blog, promoting you on social media and by inviting you to guest post on their blog.
Your friends help you to get your blog noticed without you working too hard.

Thailand
Last night in Thailand I went out to eat with my expat buddies.
Fun times.
As I sat and enjoyed the finest pizza in Chiang Mai, my blog gained steadily increasing traffic. My blogging buddies were getting my blog noticed by retweeting my posts and by sharing my posts on Facebook. All while I chatted with my expat buddies from all around the world.
Build a blogger friend network guys. Help people without looking for anything in return. Promote bloggers and cut the strings. Make friends. Help fellow bloggers get their blog noticed.
This is the easiest way to get your blog noticed.
