The RAVPower FileHub AC750 might just be the best gadget you can have as a traveler. It’s packed with awesome feature that will keep you functioning while on the go.

Technology these days keeps getting smarter and smarter. Multi-featured devices are popping up everywhere for innovation to keep you interested. However, not all of them are actually useful. Most added features feels like a gimmick and won’t really be useful.

The RAVPower FileHub AC750 claims to be a 3-in-1 device. We’re going to see if this can change your life or it’s more like a gimmick in this review.

Design

The RAVPower FileHub AC750 has a very sturdy and sleek design. It made from metal with a matte black finish that is very satisfying to touch. It has a product dimension of 4.45 x 3.03 x 0.91 inches and weighs 7 ounces.

On the very front of the device, you will see 5 LED indicators. Each light will tell you which state your device is currently in and the current battery life.

On the right side on the FileHub, is the power-key sitting there alone. It is very elegantly placed with nice feedback when you touch it.

On the left side on the FileHub is the WiFi button that allows you to toggle from 2.4Ghz to 5.0Ghz bandwidth. Also, there is a Micro SD slot adapter which allows you to input an SD card reader to upload files in the FileHub. There’s also a button to toggle from SD card to USB card whichever you are going to use.

On the top edge portion of the device, is the Ethernet port cable, a USB-A port and a USB-C (some model has Micro USB) for charging the device itself.

I really like its design and build quality. The design is really good and it feels very durable and classy

Wireless Hard Drive

So the RAVPower FileHub AC750 is essentially a wireless portable hard drive, much like the Sandisk Connect that we reviewed last year. It emits its own WiFi signal that allows you to store and retrieve data from your device to the wireless hard drive.

This is the main feature and is probably the main reason why you are considering purchasing this device. Everything is about storage these days and if you are one of those people who can’t get enough of storage, wireless hard drives are amazing.

If you haven’t read my previous review, wireless storage offers a lot of benefits, not just coolness. It eliminates OTG adapters, additional wires, all of which can easily get lost. File sharing is also easier as people can access your files with just a simple password. Lastly (which is a big deal for me), it can bypass the IOS and Windows barrier.

For those of you who still don’t know, if you are an IOS user, your flash drive won’t work on windows unless you format it and subsequently delete all the files that you wanted to transfer.

I actually borrowed a flash drive from a friend containing the complete Game of Thrones series and was planning on copying it. She uses an Apple Laptop and I couldn’t open the drive to copy the files. This wireless hard drive can bypass this barrier and accessing the files would be possible.

The RAVPower FileHub AC750 offers this feature at a very high file transfer rate of 8-12 MB/s. Furthermore, it is very easy to use. You just need to download the app called RAV FileHub which is available both on Google PlayStore and Itunes Store. When you are connecting, the default password is going to be 11111111.

Portable Router

What makes the RAVPower FileHub AC750 unique is that it also serves as a portable router. Which means It can turn an Ethernet cable connection into a wireless one. Similar to the routers in your home, only smaller and has its own battery for portability.

This is the purpose of the Ethernet Port you will find on the topmost part of the device. Once you plug in an Ethernet cable on to that port, it can convert it into your own personal WiFi which can accommodate up to 5 device connection.

This is a great feature to have especially when you travel a lot. I personally have experienced going to a resort, and they had no WiFi service. They only offered an Ethernet cable which you can only connect to your laptop. The RAVPower FileHub AC750 can solve this problem and can spread the connection wirelessly.

Another awesome feature of this device is that it can serve as a repeater. For instance, when my girlfriend was in the hospital and I had to stay there for 2 days. The hospital offers a wifi service good for only one device. The RAVPower FileHub AC750 can connect to that Wifi and redistribute it as its own wifi. It can also accommodate up to 5 devices at the same time. Keep in mind, bridging wifi connections will cause Internet speed drop.

Acting as a router, the RAVPower FileHub AC750 offers 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bandwidth. It can reach up to 300mbps on 2.4Ghz and 433mbp on 5.0Ghz.

Power Bank

Last but not the Least, the RAVPower FileHub AC750 can serve as a power bank for emergency purposes. It is equipped with a 6700 mah battery which is not impressive at all for a power bank. Furthermore, you can buy cheaper power banks with a larger capacity battery as compared to this one.

However, you wouldn’t be buying this product because of its power bank capability. This would just be an icing on the cake for real emergencies. In case you want to use this as a power bank, the output port would be the USB-A that will be found on top of the device.

Beside that USB-A is the input slot of the device. This is where you will charge the RAVPower FileHub AC750 itself. The older version has a Micro USB built into it, while the newer version has a USB-C port.

Rating  9 out of 10

I really like the concept of this product. I am a huge fan of wireless hard drives which makes life a lot easier. In addition to being a wireless hard drive, it also offers a unique way to handle wifi crisis. Granted that you may not need this all the time, but when you do, this can be a lifesaver. When you’re traveling a lot, this can be the difference between boredom and complete Wi-Fi freedom.

What I love most is its price. It’s not expensive and offers a great deal of value for money. The quality of the product is impressive and very stylish.

However, I do wish that it had a little bit more battery. Right now, it’s running time would probably be around 5 to 6 hours depending on heavy usage. I would love to see it carry a bigger battery to extend the usage rate. Also, when you bridge wifi and then turn off the device, you have to do it all over again. The device doesn’t remember the previous wifi is connected to so you have to enter the password again.

Having said all that, the RAVPower FileHub AC750 is highly recommended and is very impressive to use. Definitely worth buying especially if you are always traveling. You can purchase the RAVPower FileHub AC750 at Amazon.com.
