What is Phyllis M. Simpson LLC?
I am a certified coach, trainer, speaker and behavioral consultant in the area of leadership development and personal and professional growth, and an Independent Executive Director with the John Maxwell Team. My mission is to coach and inspire individuals, business owners, business leaders and emerging leaders to improve their focus and work purely on who they want to become and what they want to achieve, faster than they would on their own, greatly accelerating their pace.
How did you come up with the idea/need for your business?
Above all, leadership is an important life skill, which is the ability to influence your own thoughts and behaviors to achieve the success you desire in your life. I know what it’s like to lack self-awareness, confidence and clarity of vision. Support and guidance from experts helped me overcome those challenges. Now, my passion is to empower others with the tools and knowledge it takes to achieve greater success, closing the gaps between where they are and where they want to be in their professional and personal lives.
How did the FSBDC at UNF help you and your Company?
Chris Abetz, FSBDC consultant in Clay County, and I started with reviewing my business plan. We determined that I should shift my focus to developing my marketing message. This was a huge accomplishment! It helped me identify my company’s focus, and identified the clients I wanted to serve, as well as pricing discussions. What was so amazing is that soon after completing this process, I began attracting clients. I feel it was a direct result of working with Chris, gaining a greater level of self-confidence and awareness of the value my company has to offer.
Chris then guided me in establishing my online presence with Google search engine optimization assistance. Chris and I are now working on perfecting my brochure and updating my website. As a professional coach, I can bear witness to Chris’s expertise as an FSBDC Business Consultant (for example: an ability to connect with his clients, good listener, kind and caring, an expert strategic thinker, resourceful, and a great accountability partner). He demonstrates the ability to raise your self-awareness and build self-confidence to bring a dream to reality!
What has been your greatest achievement in your business?
Social Proof has been the greatest achievement in my company delivering on what I promise, which is helping my clients address obstacles that are preventing growth and creating a vision and plan against a dream or goal. Here’s what some clients have to say…

What’s next for your Company?
Expanding my company’s reach from individuals and emerging leaders to business owners and their teams by face-to-face group coaching or via online/video technology. These are to be small groups of individuals meeting regularly over time for the purpose of learning, increasing awareness and developing new skills.
