Will Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker be able to make comedy gold again with a fourth “Rush Hour” in the buddy action franchise? While there has been plenty of discussion about another sequel in the franchise, now Tucker has backed Chan’s position about wanting to do one more for fans.

Speaking on ESPN’s podcast, The Plug, Tucker said he and Chan are all prepared to do one more film and that the film is moving along. Specifically, Tucker said, “It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.”

However, fans should not expect to see Brett Ratner directing this next installment. Six women accused Ratner of sexual harassment or misconduct. In interviews with the Los Angeles Times, Natasha Henstridge and five other women accused Ratner of a range of sexual harassment and misconduct that allegedly took place in private homes, on movie sets or at industry events.

Here are some reactions on social media to a 4th “Rush Hour” film.

In October 2017, Chan confirmed rumors of the movie’s return in an interview with “The Cruz Show” on Power 106 LA, the Daily Mail reported. After several years of turning down scripts, Chan said they finally agreed on one. But it was contingent on Tucker agreeing, he said.

The films followed culturally mismatched Detective James Carter (Tucker) and Chief Inspector Lee (Chan) who make for an effective team. Rush Hour is a 1998 American buddy cop action comedy film directed by Ratner. It stars Chan and Tucker as mismatched cops who must rescue the Chinese consul’s kidnapped daughter. Released on September 18, 1998, the film grossed over $244 million worldwide. The film’s success led to two sequels: Rush Hour 2 (2001) and Rush Hour 3 (2007).

In 2016, CBS aired and then canceled a Rush Hour TV series after a short-lived first season. The buddy cop formula is a huge crowd-pleaser when done well and people have a lot of fond memories of this franchise. The buddy cop and action-comedy genres needs something fun like this film can offer.
