1 Often Ignored Way to Become a Successful Blogger

I remember spending hours on my web design.

Even worse; I recall spending days collectively trying to figure out the nuts and bolts of backend issues. Plug in problems. Speed problems. Hosting problems. PHP stuff. All types of stuff I had no idea about, all Greek to my creative but backend and tech and programming averse brain.

My friend and web developer Phillip Dews came into the picture.

He instantly helped me become a successful blogger.

Here’s why: by him handling all the web design and web development stuff that took me hours or days to figure out, he freed me up to devote 100% of my attention and energy to:

  • learning blogging
  • practicing writing
  • creating helpful content
  • building connections with influential bloggers

How could I do those 4 things persistently if I spent days being flummoxed by issues with my PHP code on my blog header? How could I learn, practice, create and connect if I was also trying to design my blog theme? Impossible. Even skilled, talented bloggers with a penchant for PHP or a delightful love of design cannot be both bloggers and skilled web developers, especially when their blogging niche has nothing to do with web development.

Web Developers Refer You to Reputable Hosting Companies

Web developers can point you in the direction of solid hosting companies.

You may read a few reviews to gain some clarity in picking a hosting package but a web developer tends to know the best companies and packages for your needs.

Do you feel a bit lost about where to start as far as choosing a host?

Web Developers Free You to Do What You Do Best

I write and publish 2-5 posts daily between my travel pages, posts on Blogging From Paradise, guest posts on Blogging Tips, article on Medium and various other guest posts I write.

Having a wizard behind the curtain frees me to do what I do best, accelerating my success.

A web developer handles the nuts and bolts that make your blog go while you handle content creation and relationship building that make your blog go.

Security Issues Fixed

Yesterday I noted my blog was acting a bit wonky which is an extremely rare occurrence with my hosting. I submitted a support ticket. By the time the hosting company responded in bit, everything was fine.

After emailing Phill he beefed up Blogging From Paradise with some security updates.

Having a secure blog helps accelerate your blogging success because hackers will be stymied when they try to break in, keeping your site online, driving traffic and boosting profits.

Why Oft Ignored?

I included the phrase “oft ignored” in the title because most bloggers struggle horribly by attempting to boot strap their way to success, or their ego goads them into trying to do everything on their own. Said bloggers focus exclusively on learning blogging, creating helpful content and building meaningful connections with top bloggers in their niche. All well and good.

But then their blogs suffer through the White Screen of Death. A corrupt plug in crashes their blog. A line of code corrupts everything. Your formatting looks wonky; turns out, your developer tells you that you need something called a CDN that stores images on a separate server, speeding up your blog and taking a load off of your site server. That is, if you have a web developer.

Most bloggers micro-manage, totally ignoring help, allowing their ego or their cheapness to call the shots.

I do not care how talented you are, blogging-wise; if you try to handle every aspect of your blog – especially the web development and design side of things – you will fail horribly 9 out of 10 times. Avoiding coding and security issues is impossible as your blog grows. Each will happen. Either you work with a rocking web developer or you spend hours or days searching for and testing solutions on your own, all while bloggers in your niche who outsource run laps around you, handing off the work to experts.
