Facebook Ads Made Simple – Author Interview

Heidi Cohen Interviews Andrea Vahl

New book: Facebook Ads Made Simple: How to Create High-Converting Facebook Ads in an Hour or Less.

Facebook Ads Made Simple

Q: What’s your best piece of advice for readers looking to improve their marketing?

A: Facebook Ads are one of the most powerful places to advertise online today. But many people try one ad and decide it doesn’t work. You must test what works for you!

There are a lot of “generalizations” out there about Facebook Ads but your niche might respond differently.

Start by testing your different demographics and keywords and then move to testing images. Compare your results and turn off the ads that are underperforming.

Q: What was the inspiration for your book?

A: I speak to all types of businesses and I see a lot of mistakes being made with Facebook Ads. I wanted a step-by-step book that people could use to create high-converting ads quickly and eliminate the guesswork.

Q: What is the key concept behind your book?

A: The key concept is to just start simple. Don’t try and do all of the advanced tactics right away because it’s overwhelming. You first have to learn a little bit about what types of images or keywords work for you and then you can get more advanced.

Q: What do you want readers to take away from your book or be different as a result of reading it?

A: I want them to understand some of the differences between the ad types and understand how to put a good strategy for their Facebook ads in place. I want them to be able to use their budget well and know how to read the reports so that they can make more informed decisions about what to do next.

Q: How do you describe yourself professionally? What is your elevator pitch?

A: I’m an author, speaker and consultant. I help businesses get more leads and sales with Facebook Ads.

Q: What books inspired your work/career?

A: I really liked Seth Godin’s book Purple Cow because it taught me that it’s GOOD to stand out and be remarkable.

I also really learned a lot from his book The Dip because I didn’t know that being an entrepreneur would have so many ups and downs.

Q: What is the biggest challenge that you’ve had to overcome in your life or career?

A: I think my challenge right now is one of scaling my business. My business has always been profitable but I now am at a point where I’m the bottleneck and I need to build my team more. The other challenge has been deciding what direction to take – there are lots of opportunities and they can all be good for one reason or another but you need to choose.

Q: What’s something unusual or fun that most people don’t know about you?

A: I do stand up comedy – I mostly talk about my failures as a mother and my ongoing midlife crisis. And I’m afraid of squirrels.

Q: Is there a piece of content, a social media campaign or a marketing campaign that you worked on that you’re particularly proud of?

A: There are so many stories from my clients that I love. I have a client in Australia who is selling out her workshops for educating parents and teachers about the Autism spectrum. I have clients that have doubled their business of their online courses. Then I also love all the “extended” family of clients I get to work with through my own Facebook Advertising Secrets course.
